South Africa vs Australia World Test Championship Finals 2025

The 2025 World Test Championship final will be played between Australia and South Africa at Lord's from June 11 to 15. The Aussies are the defending champions of the title having won it in the last edition beating India in the final.

They finished second on the points table and have retained much of their core that played a big part in their title success the last time around.

South Africa, on the other hand, are playing their first WTC final. They topped the WTC 2025 points table with 8 wins from 12 matches and ending with a PCT of 69.44. The Proteas are looking for their first major ICC title after having performed well in the last two ICC tournaments in 2023 and 2025.

South Africa's Shot At ICC Glory

Both teams have announced their squads for the final, which is going to be an epic contest at the Mecca of Cricket in England. After drawing the Test series against India, series wins against Bangladesh in overseas conditions and against Sri Lanka and Pakistan at home paved their path to making their first-ever WTC final.

Australia, on the other hand, lost the BGT series to India in India to start their campaign. They won against India Down Under to make a terrific comeback and making it to their second consecutive WTC final.

The final will be played from June 11-15 with June 16 assigned as the reserve day. The match promises to be an intense battle between two good Test sides. Both sides have enough potency and arsenal to challenge each other.

Why Reserve Day?

The ICC has kept a reserve day throughout the start of the World Test Championship back in 2019. The reserve day is used in finishing the overs of the game, in case the match does not produce a result in the first five days.
