Delhi Capitals (DC) will battle it out with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 32 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season on Wednesday, April 16. After winning four games on the bounce, DC suffered their first loss against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 13 at their home ground—the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Meanwhile, it was also not a happy homecoming for RR at their fortress, Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, as they were thrashed by RCB by eight wickets.
RR has not shown any consistency of sorts so far in their IPL 2025 campaign. The batting as well as the bowling has blown hot and cold. Their core group of retention - Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetymer, and Sandeep Sharma—has failed to click in unison. RR is placed eighth on the points table, managing to win just two games from the six matches that they have played.

DC vs RR Match Preview
DC was cruising at one stage in pursuit of a 206-run chase against MI, with Karun Nair (89 runs) looking set to take them to a fifth straight win. However, his wicket of the bowling off Mitchell Santner proved to be a decisive moment in the match. From there on, MI bowlers kept chipping away with wickets as DC eventually fell short by 12 runs. Batting has been a slight worry for the team, as, barring KL Rahul, no batter has scored more than 100 runs in the five matches that they have played so far.

Opener Jake Fraser-McGurk has struggled for timing, as he has been dismissed in power play four times. It is still not clear when Faf du Plessis will be fully fit. One positive for DC is the form shown by Nair after his lengthy return to IPL. Bowling has looked solid for the team, with spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam bowling well in tandem.
On the other hand, RR's biggest concern is the bowling. Against SRH, their bowlers leaked 286 runs, while against RCB, they could not defend 173 runs. Jofra Archer has looked good in patches, while Tushar Deshpande, Theekshana, and Sandeep have lacked consistency. Letting go of Yuzvendra Chahal is proving to be a costly miss by RR. In the batting department also, Jaiswal has hardly gotten any support from top- and middle-order batters.
Samson is yet to fully hit his straps, while Parag, Jurel, and Hetmyer have failed to finish games for the side.
