Former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the 11th Indian to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.

MS Dhoni: ‘Honoured and Grateful’

Mahendra Singh Dhoni makes yet another history as the Indian great gets inducted into the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame. The event was conducted in London, where, along with six other inductees, MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2019, became the 11th Indian to receive the honour.

Before MS Dhoni, Sunil Gavaskar, Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Mankad, Diana Edulji, Virender Sehwag, and Neetu David were celebrated with the honour.

MS Dhoni, who missed the event in London, made a special note to the ICC for the recognition. He expressed his gratitude and happiness to be included on the list

"It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever," he said.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah shared that he sees the ICC Hall of Fame as a way to celebrate the legacy and achievements that have shaped the history of the sport.

"Through the ICC Hall of Fame, we pay tribute to the finest players the game has seen individuals whose remarkable careers have shaped cricket's legacy and inspired generations," said Shah.

Apart from MS Dhoni, Matthew Hayden (Australia), Daniel Vettori (New Zealand), Hashim Amla (South Africa), Graeme Smith (South Africa), Sana Mir (Pakistan), and Sarah Taylor (England) were also inducted into the Hall of Fame.

MS Dhoni – Legacy Beyond Numbers

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the first-ever captain to win all three ICC trophies, starting with the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, which was his first major tournament as captain in South Africa.

He then led India to the ICC Cricket World Cup title in 2011, ending a 28-year drought and making India the first host nation to win a World Cup at home. He further extended his legacy by winning the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 in England, completing a historic treble. He also led India to two Asia Cup titles. His captaincy excellence earned him the title of ICC ODI and T20 Captain of the Decade(2010 - 2019).
