The MA Chidambaram Stadium has a huge history and significance in Indian Cricket. Established in 1916, it is the second-oldest cricketing stadium still in use in the country, the first being Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens.
The stadium is also widely known by its nickname, aka Chepauk. It serves as the home ground for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket. However, in the Indian Premier League (IPL), it is the home ground of the Chennai Super Kings. The stadium has been named after the former BBCI President and TNCA President - MA Chidambaram.
The stadium has a seating capacity of 38,000 and has two end names – the Anna Pavilion End and the V. Pattabhiraman Gate End. The stadium has had its floodlights installed since the 1996 World Cup and has been in existence since then.
