The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its 16-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Litton Das has been named as captain.
The tournament will be played in the UAE from September 9-28 and will feature some high-profile clashes. Bangladesh are in Group B along with Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh recently won the T20I series versus Sri Lanka and Pakistan under Litton’s captaincy and they would want to continue their winning run in the upcoming Asia Cup.
Bangladesh Asia Cup 2025 Squad Announced: Nurul Hasan Sohan, Saif Hassan Recalled
One of the most notable inclusions is that of wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan. The 31-year-old has been recalled to the T20I side after almost three years. He last represented Bangladesh during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
Top-order batter Saif Hassan has also been handed a recall. Saif’s last appearance came during the Asian Games in 2023, after which he found himself out of the national set-up.
At the same time, some familiar names have missed out. Former skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto is not part of the squad. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mohammad Naim, who were present in the series win over Pakistan, have also been left out. Soumya Sarkar, Tanvir Islam, Hasan Mahmud and Mehidy have been kept as standby players.
The same squad will also play a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands in Sylhet, starting August 30, before the continental event.
Notably, Bangladesh will begin their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against Hong Kong on September 11 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
