Mumbai Indians posted a mammoth 228 runs for five wickets in their 20 overs in the Eliminator clash against Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur. GT now need to score 229 to get themselves a win and vouch for a place in Qualifier 2.
The Mumbai batters decimated the GT bowlers and left them clueless with their continuous onslaught. In the process, they negated the threat from Rashid Khan and other bowlers.
MI won the toss and opted to bat first. Rohit Sharma (81 runs from 50 balls) found a new partner in Jonny Bairstow (47 runs off 22 balls). It was a seamless partnership as they went about their business beautifully. Rohit was dropped twice inside the powerplay and he went onto make his chance count by making a massive contribution for his side.

Rohit Sharma Lights Up Mullanpur
The middle order of Suryakumar Yadav (33 runs off 20 balls), Tilak Varma (25 runs off 11 balls) and Hardik Pandya (22* runs from 9 balls) all came up with crucial contributions for MI to get to that mammoth score.
The GT bowlers dropped their shoulders pretty quickly with the fielders not backing them in the early phase of their bowling effort. Giving Rohit as many as two lives dearly cost them as they took on all the GT bowlers and did it successfully. Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore picked up two wickets each but went for more runs 10 runs per over. Rashid Khan went for 31 runs off his four overs while Gerald Coetzee went for 51 runs off his four overs.
Kusal Mendis behind the wickets dropped both Rohit and Bairstow once each to set GT on the backfoot inside the powerplay. He will now need to make up with the bat as does GT's middle-order without Jos Buttler in the XI.

For GT to win this game, their openers Gill and Sudharsan needs to set the platform. They do not have Buttler in their ranks and hence Kusal Mendis needs to make up for his dropped chances. MI's bowling attack is a lot more potent and will test the GT batters in this Eliminator clash.
