Mumbai Indians (MI) scored 217 runs runs in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 1.
RR’s skipper Riyan Parag won the toss and elected to bowl first. MI got off to a fiery start, led by openers Ryan Rickelton (61 runs off 38 balls) and Rohit Sharma (53 runs off 36 balls). Early in the second over, Rohit was given out LBW but successfully overturned the decision via DRS.
The duo stitched together a scintillating 100-plus run partnership, with Rickelton racing to his third fifty of IPL 2025.Â
At the halfway stage, MI’s score read 99 without the loss of any wicket.
Rohit brought up his half-century in 31 deliveries with a boundary in the 12th over off Maheesh Theekshana, continuing his good run with the bat. Theekshana cleaned up Rickelton in the same over, bringing an end to the 116-run opening stand.
Parag dismissed Rohit in the 13th over as the latter holed out at long-off. With two quick wickets, the Royals came back into the game for a brief period.
Suryakumar Yadav (48* runs off 23 balls) and Hardik Pandya (48* runs off 23 balls) tore apart Fazalhaq Farooqi in the 14th over that cost RR 16 runs. The pacer released all the pressure off MI as he conceded three boundaries, one by Pandya and two by Suryakumar.
Suryakumar tonked a six to end the 16th over bowled by Theekshana, who leaked 15 runs off it. Nitish Rana dropped Suryakumar's catch in the 17th over off Jofra Archer's bowling. Mr. 360 made RR pay for it instantly, bludgeoning the next ball for a six.
Pandya destoyed Farooqi in the 18th over that added 21 more runs to Mumbai's tally. MI's skipper found no difficulty at all, smacking the Afghan pacer all over the park. He collected four boundaries, including a six.
Suryakumar hammered a four in the 19th over to help MI touch the 200-run mark. However, Archer followed up with brilliant deliveries, giving away just eight runs in the over.
On the final ball of the innings, Suryakumar smacked a biggie to end MI's innings at 217 runs for the loss of two wickets.
