Legendary cricketer AB de Villiers has reached Ahmedabad ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) final Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday, June 03. Some time back, the former RCB superstar had told in a podcast that he will be with Kohli & Co to cheer for them if they reach the finals. Keeping his promise, De Villiers has reached Narendra Modi Stadium and will be rooting for RCB to win their maiden IPL trophy.
For the unversed, the former South African player has played for RCB for nine years, scoring over 5000 runs at a strike rate of 150. The 41-year-old has also won countless matches for the team single-handedly from seemingly hopeless positions. AB was also very close to laying hands at the IPL trophy in 2016 alongside Kohli. In that year, in Qualifier One against the now-defunct Gujarat Lions (GL), AB scored a match-winning 50 to help RCB reach the finals.

However, heartbreak was in store as they lost to SRH by just nine runs at home in Bengaluru. Kohli had a record-breaking season that year, scoring 973 runs, while AB amassed 687 runs. It was yet so near and so far for the legendary cricketing duo. After nine years, the Proteas star can live the dream with Kohli if RCB manages to beat PBKS.

AB de Villiers & Virat Kohli brothers from different mothers
It is to be noted that AB considers Virat Kohli as his brother from a different mother. The duo share a great rapport and have often showered praises on each other when they achieve great things. Kohli gave a fitting tribute to AB when he was bestowed by ICC with the prestigious Hall of Fame honor last year. At the same time, the South African reciprocated the gesture to the Indian superstar when he called time on his Test career on May 07.
