The International Cricket Council (ICC) will host its Annual General Meeting from July 17 to 20 in Singapore, with the future of India-Pakistan cricketing relations expected to dominate discussions, as reported by Cricbuzz.
Chaired by new ICC Chairman Jay Shah, the conference comes at a critical juncture amid heightened tensions between the two nations after the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives, and subsequent military escalation.
The conference, a key gathering of cricket’s global administrators, will address the ongoing reports surrounding India’s reluctance to play against Pakistan in the ICC events. Speculation is rife that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants to isolate Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), potentially impacting ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup.

India-Pakistan Cricketing Ties to be Discussed in ICC AGM
The India-Pakistan cricketing relationship, a cornerstone of the sport’s global appeal, will take center stage at the 2025 ICC Annual Conference.
Speculation has swirled about India potentially withdrawing from the Asia Cup 2025 due to ongoing geopolitical tensions with Pakistan. Reports suggested the BCCI might opt out of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events, including the Men’s Asia Cup and Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup due to Pakistan’s involvement.
However, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has firmly denied these claims.
What's Else on the Agenda?
Another critical issue expected to be discussed is the future of displaced Afghan women cricketers.
In April 2025, ICC Chairman Shah announced the creation of a dedicated task force, in collaboration with the BCCI, Cricket Australia (CA), and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), to support the displaced Afghan women cricketers.
Other agenda items in the AGM include proposed changes, such as a single-ball rule in ODIs and time limits in Test matches, as well as the Associate Members election for the Chief Executives Committee. There will also be a discussion on holding the Men’s Under-19 World Cup in the T20 format.
