IND vs ENG: “Test Cricket at Its Best” - Reactions Pour In After Edge-of-the-Seat Finish at Lord's

India fought bravely in the third Lord's Test against England. However, in the end the result did not go the visitors way as they suffered a 22-run loss in the last session of Day five. Shubman Gill & Co. won lot of plaudits from fans, who lauded the young team for fighting throughout the five days of the Lord's Test. However, cricketing experts Dinesh Karthik and Nasser Hussain were blunt in assessing India's performance and explained where the visitors lost the plot.

For the unversed, Gill & Co were required to chase 193 to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series. In the final day of the Test, that equation came down to 135 runs with six wickets in hand. However, India botched up the run-chase in the first session itself, as they lost four wickets. The two cricketing experts stated that the visitors failed to seize vital moments across five days, despite dominating majority parts of the game.

Karthik came hard down at India, urging the fans not to just sympathize with the fight they put on Day five of the Lord's Test.

"If you're going to judge the match based on what happened today, I think you're looking at it from the wrong side," Karthik said. "You've got to look at 376 for six in the first innings, 387 all out. Yet again, a bit of a mini-collapse."
"The catch that KL Rahul dropped - Jamie Smith on five in the first innings. The fact that you've conceded 63 extras across two innings. How much do those things matter to you? Those are the conversations that you need to have."

India failed to win small moments when it mattered the most: Hussain

Echoing Karthik's statement, the former England skipper also stated that when compared to the hosts, the visitors won more sessions and were in front for most part's of the game.

"India, for me, Wardy, this is a tough one to take," Hussain said. "If we had those pie charts we used to do of who's won sessions - they have won so many sessions. They have put in such a shift in so many games."

"How many sessions they win there, how much good cricket have they played, and they're 2-1 down. Because of those key moments, because of those little collapses, because of the Rishabh Pant run out, the drop catches and things like that - that is a tough loss to take."

This loss would be hard to take for Gill & Co. as they endured a similar heartbreak in the first Leeds Test, when majority of the time they dominated the game, only to lose on the last day due to Duckett's heroics. With two Tests still to be played, India would be hoping to seize crucial moments and win the games.
