Shikhar Dhawan Opens Up Beyond the Scoreboard

Shikhar Dhawan, known for his stylish batting, on-field shenanigans, and famous mustache, has been one of India’s top openers for many years. The combination of Dhawan and Rohit Sharma has single-handedly won India many matches. On the field, Dhawan is known for his intensity and sarcastic character, but ‘The One’ will explore his unfiltered off-the-field life from the beginning of his career to the life he leads today.

The announcement was made through an Instagram reel, accompanied by a deeply emotional message to fans:

The One is said to be raw and honest, covering his complete journey—from his dream of becoming a cricketer and the path he carved to wear the Indian jersey, to the milestones he achieved off the field. It also delves into the struggles he endured during his career, the reinvention of his form, and the friendship, laughter, sadness, and disbelief he faced throughout.

The book is said to carry a depth that reflects the reality of a cricketer’s life—dealing with failure, rising again, and repeating the cycle with resilience.

Dhawan’s Glorious Career

Gabbar announced his retirement from international cricket on August 24 with an emotional note on Instagram. His decision came after prolonged struggles with injury, prompting the southpaw to call time on his career.

Dhawan was one of India’s finest ODI openers scoring 6,793 runs in 167 matches at an average of 44, including 17 centuries. In T20Is, he accumulated 1,759 runs in 68 matches, with 11 fifties as an opener. Dhawan is also part of the elite list of players to score a century on Test debut, against Australia.
