India A will play an unofficial Test match against England Lions to put themselves into a Test before the Test series against England starts from June 20. The first unofficial Test match will be played from May 30 -June 2. The BCCI has already announced the India A side that will be playing two first-class games against the England Lions at Canterbury and Northampton. The side will then play an intra-squad game against the senior men's Test team.
Both teams are gearing up for the unofficial Test match. India A will be led by Abhimanyu Easwaran. Meanwhile, the England Lions will be led by James Rew who is playing for Somerset. The first unofficial Test match will be an opportunity for the India A side to test their might against the England Lions.

Significance of India A's First Unofficial Test Against England Lions
The two unofficial Test matches will help the India A players to make an impactful performance and fight for a spot in the main Test XI when the time comes for the first Test. For players like Karun Nair, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur, who are not playing Test cricket regularly, the two games are an opportunity to stake a claim back in the Test side. With the Indian Test team in transition after the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, there are spots up for grabs in the XI.
As far as the bowlers are concerned, for the likes of Harshit Rana, Harsh Dubey, Anshul Kamboj amongst others it is an opportunity for them to impress the selectors as well and stay ready for when the opportunity comes. Thus there is a lot to gain for the India A players from these two unofficial Test matches.
